Be one of the first to celebrate the City's 100th birthday during Boogie with the Stars at the Prince George Civic Centre Wednesday.
The dinner event features a dance competition where teams raise funds for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation by garnering votes for $5 each. People can vote as many times as they wish, as it all goes to a good cause.
Last year's event was attended by more than 350 people and raised $36,000 for the charity.
The popular gala evening, presented by the Dance North Ballroom Dance Club, will have seven teams competing this year. Traditionally the teams are a celebrity and their dance instructor but this year there are two pairs of stars who wanted to participate together as well as five individuals.
Team Cariboo Prince George features Todd Doherty, newly nominated Conservative candidate for the federal riding of Cariboo Prince George, who will dance with instructor Paz Milburn.
Team Prince George Cougars finds Marnie Hamagami, Cougars' director of sales and marketing, dancing with her husband Liam Cooper, who is a lawyer in Prince George.
Team Enbridge stars Janet Holder, project leader for the Northern Gateway pipeline project, who will dance with instructor Zeki Basboyuk.
Team IDL stars Dale Jarvis, project manager for IDL Projects Inc., who will dance with instructor Leslie Farella.
Team Animal Instincts stars Dr. Tracey Lotze, who works in the emergency department at UHNBC and is co-owner of the Salveo Urgent and Walk in Clinic and David Mothus, who owns the biggest DJ service in Prince George and is known for his charitable work in Prince George.
Team Westwood Pub stars Sarah Pugh, who owns Dreamscape Studios where she does photography, photo illustration, ad design, social media marketing, graphic & web design. Pugh will dance with instructor Lee Goats.
Team UNBC stars Thomas Nowak, a third year commerce student at UNBC and captain of the UNBC JDC West Team. The team develops real-world skills, and supports the community through charity initiatives. Nowak will dance with instructor Janis Smith.
Boogie with the Stars starts with Civic Centre doors opening at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., dance competition at 8 p.m. with Pink Champagne Band starting for guests' dancing pleasure at 9 p.m. Tickets are $95 each at the Spirit of the North office or call 250-565-2515.
