Prince George and Kelowna will face off once again in the 13th Annual Interior Drive for Life blood donor challenge.
Canadian Blood Services partnered with the BC Cancer Agency to use this year's challenge to educate the public on the need for blood products for cancer patients.
Representatives will be at the Prince George blood donor clinic to kick off the challenge Aug. 4 at the Prince George blood donor clinic at 11 a.m.
While blood products are mostly associated with trauma patients, it is actually needed for many purposes, including cancer patients. More than a quarter of the blood issued to the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia went to oncology patients in 2009.
