Prince George is not off to see the wizard tonight, but don't stamp those ruby slippers in frustration just yet. The massive musical has been postponed, not canceled.

The new date for the touring performance is Dec. 22, said a statement from CN Centre officials.

"Travelling overnight from Chilliwack, the 'Wizard of Oz' trucks were engulfed in a heavy snowstorm and were unable to travel to Prince George in time," said the statement. "But the show goes on! And it is stupendous! The greatest family musical of all time, ' The Wizard of Oz' is coming to the CN Centre just in time for the Christmas festivities."

Production organizers promised that this stage version was based on the visually ambitious 1939 film version, and contains "breathtaking special effects" to go along with the popular story line, culturally familiar characters, and ubiquitous music.
