The Punjabi Canadian Senior Society's seventh annual Bike-A-Thon takes place Saturday in Prince George with proceeds going to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
The bike trek begins at the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple, 4298 Davis Rd., and sees many participants cycle to Purden Lake for a picnic lunch and then promptly ride back to Prince George in the afternoon.
During the first six years of this event, the society have raised almost $62,000 for Spirit of the North and this year the funds raised will go towards replacing a number of specialized wheelchairs for those patients needing rehabilitation and therapies at the hospital.
"It is important that the money raised stays here locally to help, and that our event draws the community together," said Gordie Powar, the Bike-A-Thon coordinator.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this fundraising event.
