Chamber of Commerce Week is underway in B.C. Prince George's business advocacy agency is busy with activities, including a lunch hour seminar today, and other events to boost the local economy one entrepreneur at a time.
According to the local Chamber's CEO Christie Ray, the commemorative week is an awareness opportunity highlighting their efforts "to stimulate local economies, promote their community, and engage in multi-level advocacy which benefits the entire province. No other business organization can match this incredible network that stretches across the country."
Ray's provincial counterpart, BC Chamber of Commerce president John Winter, said "It's hard to say enough about the impact of local chambers throughout British Columbia. These organizations are at the frontlines of business advocacy in their communities. They are leaders, innovators and voices for positive change. Chamber Week celebrates the vision, hard work and can-do spirit that our Chambers bring to British Columbia."
That local work is in evidence as easy-access as today at noon at the Chamber boardroom (890 Vancouver St.) where guest speaker Shauna Harper will lead attendees in and out of the online marketing field.
"Bring your lunch and learn how to be found on social media, have keywords in place for your online marketing strategy, and start getting your face and brand on video too," Harper said. "However, we are [primarily here] to share why Not All Content is King," the title of her presentation. In other words, what businesses need is effective online content, not just volumes of material. It has to be the stuff that will draw customers towards your products and services.
Also coming up soon on the Prince George Chamber of Commerce calendar is a Feb. 27 reception at UNBC to meet and celebrate this year's Top 40 Under 40 inductees, then on March 5 the Chamber holds its annual general meeting and election of officers.
