Prince George and the surrounding community could be getting a new trail system to enjoy.

The Beaverly Community Association (BCA) has recently submitted an application to develop and maintain a system of trails in the vicinity of Lost Lake on its western edge west of the city.

Lost Lake is north of Highway 16 to the east of the Chilako River.

The application by the BCA involved more than 10 years of discussions with the community and included technical support from UNBC's Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management program.

The B.C. government is currently reviewing the application and accepting public comments until Sept. 24.

“We want people to experience the beauty of Lost Lake. Comments supporting our application will help make that a reality,” says BCA President Mike Waite.

The BCA says because of the immense amount of time and community engagement that has already gone into designing the trail system, it expects the comments will be overwhelming in support of having it develop and maintain the trail system.

You can make comments on the Beaverly Community Association's application through the B.C. government Crown Lands website.
