With social distancing still in effect and large groups discouraged, the BC SPCA is taking its Lock-in for Love events, held across the province, online.

The events were one of a variety of fundraising opportunities for the animal care group, integrating animal kennels into the money-gathering efforts.

"Our Lock-ins for Love were held at our branches all across the province," says Tess Repenning, a senior manager with the BC SPCA.

"We had a handful of supporters, maybe close to 10 (per branch), who actually come into the branch and go into a kennel with a shelter animal and raise funds to secure their release."

Because of the pandemic, the organization has cancelled all fundraising events until September.

In order to help boost fundraising, they've decided to do Lock-ins for Love: Home Edition.

People can raise money as teams or individuals between now and June 13.

On that date, the fundraising ends and an online event will be held by the provincial SPCA.
