A Carleton University PhD candidate, originally from Prince George, is looking to speak with people who’ve had experiences in British Columbia’s youth criminal justice system.
Taryn Hepburn is looking for volunteers for a study examining the experiences of young people in British Columbia who have been incarcerated under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Hepburn is conducting the study through the Carleton University Department of Law and Legal Studies working under the supervision of Dr. Dale Spencer.
The study aims to explores the stories of young people who have been incarcerated to consider how those experiences compare to the goals laid out in youth justice legislation.
Participants will receive a $10 gift card for their time and the study takes place either in person or over zoom.
Those interested in participating must be 18 to 25 years of age, have been incarcerated in a youth correctional facility in British Columbia, and be comfortable participating in an English interview.
The interview takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
