B.C. Liberal leadership race: Falcon reveals northern agenda

B.C. Liberal leadership candidate Kevin Falcon unveiled a "northern prosperity agenda" on Monday, saying he will extend and increase spending on side roads important to rural residents and resource industries.

B.C. Liberal leadership candidate Kevin Falcon unveiled a "northern prosperity agenda" on Monday, saying he will extend and increase spending on side roads important to rural residents and resource industries.

"The North's vast geographic potential has caught the world's attention, and the region is experiencing an unprecedented wave of development," said Falcon in a release as he toured northeast B.C. "As demand for its forestry, mineral, energy and agricultural products increases, our North is being transformed into B.C's economic engine," he said.

In an interview, Falcon said he will reveal more elements of his northern agenda as he continues to talk to regional MLAs, northern communities and industry representatives.

Those elements will meet the needs of other regions: The northwest; and north-central B.C., including Prince George, he said.
