B.C. Hydro's Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program is updating its Peace Region action plan and is looking for public input by May 1.
The plan guides close to $1.5 million per year toward fish and wildlife projects in the region.
"Due to public health concerns related to COVID-19, we have cancelled in-person discussions planned for April 2020 in Mackenzie, Hudson's Hope and Prince George," program Peace region manager Chelsea Coady said in a press release. "We’re now offering six online discussions plus an online feedback form to make it easy for people to safely join the discussion. Our updated plans will define our priority actions for fish and wildlife and steer funding decisions in our Peace region for the next several years.”
Online information sessions are scheduled April 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., April 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and April 29 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
More in-depth technical workshops will be offered April 14 on aquatic-based actions, April 15 on land-based actions and April 16 on all the proposed actions. The technical workshops all run from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

"We know that concerns about COVID-19 are escalating, and while it’s definitely not business as usual, we’d like to keep working on updates to our Peace region action plans if possible,” Coady said in a press release. “If you have the time and space, and are able to join us online or submit a feedback form, we’d love to hear from you.”
