The B.C. Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) has opened an office in Prince George.

Located in Hadih House, at 2105 Pine Street in the VLA, it will be staffed by volunteers who will assist people with police complaints.

"There is so much work to do across the province, and having a base in Prince George, the gateway of the north, will help community members there contribute to transparent and accountable government in a meaningful way," said BCCLA president Robert Holmes.

Those interested in becoming volunteers can drop by the office or contact the BCCLA.

"Northern communities have unique experiences and viewpoints, and it is important that we be able to intervene in our own geographic area to ensure rights and freedoms are protected," said Heather Elliot, one of the volunteers at the new office and a steering committee member of the BCCLA's northern chapter.
