Delegates from the B.C. Chamber of Commerce gathered in Prince George on Sunday for the first of a three-day annual general meeting.
The focus of the sessions is to debate polices, network and hear speakers and panel discussions on topics relevant to business development. Prince George Chamber of Commerce president Guarav Parmar said hosting the annual general meeting is an opportunity to showcase Prince George to top business leaders across the province.
"Anytime you can have all the business leaders of the province convene in one location at one time, great things are going to happen," Parmar said. "The other side beneficial to Prince George... is we're also exposing them to the community and hopefully they will come back to visit us."
The annual general meeting is the premier event for business leaders in the province, and the resolutions passed at the meeting will drive the chamber's advocacy efforts in the future, he said.
"The B.C. Chamber of Commerce is the strong provincial voice in support of the free enterprise system," he said. "The B.C. Chamber is charged with building a diverse, competitive economy."
The meetings and trade show take place at the Prince George Civic Centre, but are closed to the public.
