Call2Recycle, the only free battery and cell phone collection program in North America is up and running in B.C.

The program was recently chosen as the first government mandated collection program for all household batteries - including alkaline - by the B.C. Ministry of Environment.

"We fully support Call2Recycle's efforts to recycle batteries and cell phones into new products and keep them out of our solid waste stream, which will help the environment and the economy," said John Yap, B.C. Minister of State for Climate Action.

Call2Recycle has collected more than 143,000 kg of rechargeable batteries in B.C. since 1997. There are 1,500 collection locations across the province.

London Drugs, Home Depot, and BK Two Way Radio are some of the numerous places to drop off batteries in Prince George. If you go to www.call2recycle.ca and enter your postal code in the search engine, it will automatically locate the the recycling centre closest to you.
