Twenty Prince George firefighters spent two hours putting out a house fire late Wednesday night.

The fire on the 2500 block of Vanier Drive started in the kitchen of the basement suite at about 10 p.m., eventually causing about $35,000 damage before firefighters prevented the fire from spreading through the house.

The cause is not considered suspicious, and no injuries were reported. Prince George Fire Rescue would like to remind people to use caution while cooking with oil.
