Barkerville Historic Town and the Cariboo Gold Rush celebrate 150 years with the Honourable Iona Campagnolo as the keynote speaker during the Barkerville-UNBC Heritage Symposium Gala held tonight at UNBC.

The event offers guests an opportunitiy to hear the first female Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and former UNBC Chancellor speak and to get a sneak peak at Barkerville's Chinese Travelling Exhibit.

The exhibit goes on an overseas tour in Guangdong Province in January 2013 as part of Barkerville's year-long anniversary celebrations.

There will be a lively atmosphere at the event due to contributions from Barkerville's costumed historical interpreters, as well as a Barkerville-themed menu, silent auction and gold-nugget pendant draw, all culminating in an address from Campagnolo, Barkerville's inaugural honourary patron.

All proceeds from the event go to Barkerville's Conservation and Learning Institute.

Tickets are $85. Contact Mindy Stroet at 250-877-0229 or email: [email protected]
