A day on the trails turned fatal for a Prince George father, who died Sunday afternoon after injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident.
Around 2 p.m. yesterday, the Prince George RCMP, Prince George Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance Service responded to the scene off of Monterey Road, near the Hart Wheel Inn.
Preliminary investigation suggests the ATV flipped backwards on a steep part of the terrain in a wooded area used primarily by dirt bikers and ATVers.
A 42-year-old Prince George resident, who was riding the trails with his seven-year-old daughter, died at the scene. The girl, who was visiting her father from out of town, did not suffer any injuries and had remained with her father until discovered by recreational motorcyclists who called 911.
The deceased's name is not being released, pending notification of next of kin, and the RCMP are assisting the BC Coroner's Service in the investigation.
