A woman was left slightly injured Friday afternoon after a man broke into her home on Tamarack Street.

Prince George RCMP received a 911 call Friday at approximately 2:10 p.m. from the lone occupant of the 1800 block residence.

Police attended immediately, set up a perimeter and called for a police service dog. The female resident had been in the house when an unknown assailant had entered, dressed all in black and wearing a black bandana over his face.

A struggle ensued and the victim managed to escape and call police. She was slightly injured, as the assailant was armed, however refused medical assistance.

When police arrived the intruder was gone and a subsequent search by police on foot and with the aid of a service dog was unsuccessful.

The motive for the entry into the home is unknown, the investigation is ongoing.
