The Island Mountain Arts Society that presents the Artswells Festival has received $5,000 in government funding said Dick Harris, Conservative Member of Parliament for Cariboo-Prince George and BC/Yukon Caucus Chair.
"This is a family-friendly event that not only draws together the community of Wells and the surrounding region but also encourages tourism which benefits our local businesses," MP Harris said in a recent news release.
The annual festival takes place July 30 to August 2, 2010.
The funding came from the Canadian government's Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, which started in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with an opportunity to take part in local activities, which presents arts and culture and celebrates local history and heritage.
