09 Aboriginal Infant & Family Development Centre fire Sept. 4 2021
Firefighters were called to the Aboriginal Infant & Family Development Program headquarters at 138 George St., late Saturday morning and had to extinguish a fire that caused an estimated $40,000 damage.

Arson is suspected in a fire that damaged a downtown commercial building late Saturday morning.

At 11:08 a.m., the emergency call went out to Prince George Fire Rescue and 19 firefighters responded with six pieces of firefighting equipment to 138 George St., the home of the Aboriginal Infant & Family Development Program.

Smoke was coming from the eaves on one side of the building and the fire crews smothered the flames to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring structures. Damage is estimated at $40,000.

There were no injuries reported.

Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the investigation has been forwarded to the RMCP.
