Prince George Green and NDP candidates are cheering the deal struck Monday between the two parties to form a minority government.

"I'm very happy that the NDP party and the Greens have reached this agreement," said Bobby Deepak, the NDP candidate for Prince George-Mackenzie. "This is very exciting and I'm looking forward to seeing the ratified agreement."

Details of the agreement are not to be released until approved by the New Democrat caucus today.

Hilary Crowley, the Green party candidate for Prince George-Mackenzie B.C. was surprised initially by the announcement.

"I knew they were negotiating but yes, I am very surprised," Crowley said.

"And I am hoping that they could negotiate issue by issue and look at apportioned representation and corporate donations, for example."

Prince George Liberal MLAs Mike Morris and Shirley Bond did not return calls for comment Monday.
