Local RCMP found themselves dealing with just one murder in 2013.
Gordon Stanley Adolph Jr., Christopher Flanagan and a male under age 18, whose name cannot be released all face a charge of second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in relation to the death of Gordon Stanley Adolph Sr. whose body was found in a 800-block Douglas Street home on April.
However, two people were charged with attempted murder over the year - Aaron Craig Sutherland in relation to a Dec. 27 stabbing at a 200 block Ruggles Street home and Amberlynn Louise Abraham for a June 26 stabbing outside a 1600 block Ninth Avenue home.
As well, Kelly James Grainger was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison in July after pleading guilty to impaired driving causing death as a result of an early morning, single-vehicle crash along Pacific Street in January. The crash killed Lavinia Pearl Harrison, 51, a passenger in a stolen sport utility vehicle.
And further afield, Joey Arrance, the former Prince George gangster who generated plenty of copy during his time in this city, was shot to death in August while sitting in his sport utility vehicle in August.
Proceedings by the B.C. civil forfeiture director to seize nearly $220,000 worth of jewelry and cash it claims were proceeds of crime that Arrance accumulated while in this city remains before the court.
And a former Prince George man, Eric Maurice Cardinal, was shot to death in his Terrace home in September in an apparently drug-related incident. Travis Leslie Stephens, 29, was later arrested and charged with murder in Cardinal's death and attempted murder in the shooting of a woman in the home.
In November, four people were arrested in the January 2012 murder of Vanderhoof man Fribjon Bjornson whose remains were found in an abandoned home on the Nak'azdli reserve adjacent to Fort St. James.
Wesley Dennis Duncan was charged with second-degree murder, Jesse Darren Bird with accessory after the fact to murder and interference with a dead body, James David Charlie with indignity to human remains and Teresa Marie Charlie with accessory after the fact to murder.
In December, Joshua Tyler Bredo, who grew up in Prince George, saw two more charges added to a count of first-degree murder he was already facing in the death of a roommate in a Victoria apartment two years ago was also charged with
Bredo was also charged with attempting to sexually assault and unlawfully confining Daniel Jordan Levesque and he remains in custody.
Likewise, in February, Joel Christopher Marchand of Prince George was ordered to stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court on charges related to a fatal fight outside a Fort St. John bar in July 2012.
Marchand faces charges of manslaughter and assault causing bodily harm in the death of Chris Ball of Calgary. The matter remains before the court.
