Another mining company has struck gold just west of Prince George.

Parlane Resource Corp. has been exploring a claim in between the Blackwater and Capoose projects owned by NewGold Inc. The Blackwater project has been especially fruitful, leading NewGold to the threshold of opening a mine there, pending approvals under the environmental protection process.

Parlane officials called their foray in between those two gold plays "strategic" since both are showing positive signs and the geology suggests they are connected.

Now Parlane has announced that it too has found promising signs on the neighbouring parcel it calls Big Bear. The confirmation came from six drill holes totaling 1,637 metres of core.

"This is a very significant discovery for the Company," said Robert Eadie, president and CEO of Parlane. "We are anxious to get underway on our 2013 drilling program as I believe we have extended the Blackwater deposit and are on a definite path to increasing shareholder value."

It was announced in December that Parlane had acquired 100 per cent ownership of the Big Bear suite of properties - 31 claims covering approximately 14,366 hectares.

Parlane is a self-described "junior gold exploration company" which has not yet announced if it intends to grow into the role of full mine operators or if, like many junior companies who have exploration success, they intend to sell their asset to a senior company when they determine more of the mineral information under the soil at Big Bear.

Parlane is also actively exploring the Mercedes project in the Sonora region of Mexico. Big Bear is its only other current project.
