It's more bad news for the forestry sector.
Canfor announced in a news release this afternoon (Aug. 27) more curtailments and workweek transitions including Prince George.
The announced operating curtailments will reduce production capacity by 75 million board feet between Sept. 3 and the end of this year.
The Houston, Polar, Prince George, and Fort St. John sawmills will be curtailed the week of Sept. 3.
In addition, the Plateau and Houston mills will transition to four-day workweeks in September, which the company says will stay in place until the market and economic conditions support a return to full operating schedules of five days a week.
The curtailments are in addition to all previously announced capacity reductions.
