Those travelling to Cariboo country should be aware that Cariboo Traffic Services will be deploying a brand new tool called the Automatic Licence Plate Reader.
Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Reinhold Weissbock says the ALPR has the capacity of scanning, photographing, and analyzing every licence plate it drives by, looking for persons with outstanding warrants, prohibited drivers, unlicensed drivers, and uninsured vehicles.
"Someone driving by the ALPR vehicle would never know it, as its hidden inside a normal marked police vehicle," said Weissbock, who added, a zero tolerance for booze and belts is in effect not only this Canada Day and school graduation weekend, but every day.
