A psychiatric assessment has been prepared for a woman accused of drunk driving causing death from a January 2010 incident on Ospika Boulevard.
Sandra Cassidy, 69, also faces charges of criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, causing an accident resulting in death, and failing to stop at an accident scene involving death.
The charges relate to the death of Stanley Heavysides, 48, who was struck by a dark-coloured Ford Escape SUV as he walked home at about 8 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the intersection of Melody Crescent.
Witnesses said they saw the SUV cross the Ospika Boulevard median twice before it struck Heavysides, a nearby fence and a tree.
The SUV then reversed, said one onlooker, and would have hit Heavysides again had not a nearby motorist, Robbin Shingler, driven his Pontiac Sunfire between the SUV and the victim. The SUV then drove away.
Heavysides was alive when he was taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. but succumbed to his injuries later.
Police found the license plate of the SUV at the scene, which led RCMP to Cassidy.
Cassidy's case was referred Wednesday to the judicial case manager to set a date to consider the report.
