An air quality advisory was issued Friday morning for Prince George because of high levels of fine particulate air pollution.

B.C. Environment and Northern Health are warning people with chronic underlying medical conditions to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.

Based on air quality data, the high levels are mainly due to a combination of wood smoke and emissions from industry, said the agencies.

A city bylaw prohibits all open burning, including backyard burning and land-clearing burning during air-quality advisories.
