An air quality advisory is in place for the city of Prince George due to high levels of particulate matter.
The advisory was issued Wednesday morning by the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Northern Health and remained in effect after an update issued on Wednesday afternoon.
The provincial air quality objective for fine particulates is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The rolling average was 30 micrograms per cubic metre downtown and 29 micrograms per cubic metre in College Heights as of Wednesday afternoon.
The amount of course particles in the air, 56 micrograms per cubic metre downtown, was also above the provincial target of 50.
People with chronic underlying medical conditions are advised to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
