Conditions in the Prince George airshed have improved enough to end an air quality advisory, Environment Canada said in a special weather statement issued early Saturday afternoon.
The advisory was issued Friday, largely as a result of smoke from forest fires in the Pelican Lake area about 75 kilometres southwest of Prince George.
Advisories remained in place for Quesnel and Williams Lake.
In a separate statement issued Saturday, Cariboo Fire Centre spokeswoman Grace Pickell said crews will take advantage of the higher relative humidity to build a fire guard around the two main blazes at Pelican Lake.
"Water bombers that scoop water from large lakes may be brought in to assist crews if necessary," she added.
The largest fire stood at 1,843 square hectares and was 20-per-cent contained and the next largest is at 2,500 square hectares and was 10 per cent contained.
Environment Canada was predicting a 30-per-cent chance of showers for Sunday and Monday in the Prince George and Quesnel regions.
