Several youth have been accepted to a variety of camps this summer through the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

Sixteen-year-old Cpl. Sarah Bergen and Cpl. Matthew Noel have won the prestigious Glider Scholarship and will attend a summer camp in Comox with the goal of obtaining a glider pilot license.

WO2 Noah Sommerfeld, 17, will be attending an International Cadet Exchange to The Netherlands for three weeks.

Fifteen-year-old Flt./Cpl. Alexis Reinderhoff has been accepted into the Senior Leader's course and Flt./Cpl. Leah Dignard, 15, will attend Survival Instructor's training.

To qualify, all Cadets were required to undergo a panel interview and submit a written application. Cpls. Noel and Bergen had to pass a written exam in order to be considered for the highly competitive Glider Scholarship, worth $12,000 each.

"These camps will not only provide a tremendous amount of leadership training and specialty skills to the cadets, but will allow them to bring their learned knowledge back to the squadron to teach their fellow cadets," said Commanding Officer Mindy Meyer.

The 396 City of Prince George Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron has been a part of the city since 1948.

They parade on Tuesday nights at the Connaught Youth Centre between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. New cadets, parents and volunteers are always welcome to be part of this organization. More information is available at http://pgaircadets.ca.
