Talk about a trip of a lifetime.
There's a chance for one lucky person to win an extreme once-in-a-lifetime experience like astronaut-in-training, fighter pilot for a day, Nascar or Indy-style open wheel racer or a more laid back, uber-luxurious Costa Rican trip or a Chesapeake Bay golf resort retreat.
All these and more are up for grabs during the annual Ducks Unlimited Taste of the Nations Banquet Saturday night at the Coast Inn of the North.
Highest bidder gets to pick a fantasy trip during the live auction. There will be a silent auction, raffles and door prizes available during the banquet, too.
"The money raised goes to the preservation of our wetlands," said Shawn Rice, chair of the spring banquet committee and 17-year member of Ducks Unlimited. "We're offering the fantasy trips as we really wanted our 25th anniversary to be special."
The ten trips up for grabs include a trip for two with fighter pilot training for one, Nascar racing for two, wine country experience for two, a theme park adventure for four, so there's really something for everyone on the list of prizes.
Items available at the silent auction include a pheasant hunt, a kid's quad, Bobby Orr jersey framed and autographed, many nature prints and a trip for four to Jasper.
"The sponsorship we've gotten from local businesses has been amazing and that's how we've been able to collect all the wonderful items up for auction and raffle as well as amazing door prizes," Rice said.
Tickets are $50 each or a table of ten is $450. Call Shawn Rice for tickets at 250-612-9856.
