City manager Derek Bates is leaving earlier than expected.
Bates, who informed council of his intentions to not renew his contract at the end of the year, will now be leaving his post mid-month.
Effective Oct. 17, Corporate Services director Kathleen Soltis takes over as acting city manager in addition to her regular duties.
The recruitment of a permanent city manager could take up to six months.
