First Nations leaders from across the province will converge on Prince George later this month for a conference that organizers describe as "match making for business."

More than 300 delegates from 117 First Nations and Tribal Councils are expected to meet with executives from close to 100 corporations when Aboriginal Business Match 2012 (ABM 2012) is held Feb. 13 to 16 at the Civic Centre.

"Think of it as 'match making' for business," organizers said in a press release. "Based on detailed e-profiles developed by all delegates, participants select appointments with each other based on matching business interests."

More than 3,100 face-to-face meetings are already scheduled at this year's event, and that number will rise to more than 4,600 by the end of the four-day event.

"We are pleased that ABM 2012 will take place in Lheidli T'enneh Territory," said Lheidli T'enneh Nation Chief Dominic Frederick. "Our people have been here from the beginning of time. We have done business here for thousands of years.

"Today we are looking for opportunities to grow our community's economy, to create partnerships and employment. We are looking forward to welcoming the aboriginal and corporate leaders, who come to our territory to do business."
