A further five centimetres of snow mixed with some freezing rain was expected to have fallen on Prince George before the latest weather pattern has run its course, according to an Environment Canada meteorologist.
As of Thursday afternoon, accumulated snowfall in the Bowl area stood at 10 cm, well below the 20 to 30 the agency had been predicting for parts of the north central interior in a weather warning issued Wednesday morning, although the total was higher in the Hart.
As of mid-afternoon Thursday, the snowfall had stopped but was expected to resume later the same day, said meterologist Doug Jones.
"There's a bit of another wave still coming in behind so you may see another five cm over the next five, six hours," Jones said at 3:30 p.m. "But then in behind the system we are looking at a tapering off to just a slight chance [of flurries] in the early morning hours."
Some "patchy" freezing rain was also expected.
"There's been some reported at the airport which, of course, mixed in with the snow makes the situation kind of slick," Jones said.
