There was a single vehicle fatal collision on the 6200 block of Upper Fraser Road east of the city Wednesday at about 8 p.m.

Frontline officers and other emergency services attended the scene and located an over turned SUV in the ditch. A 67-year-old man was located deceased.

Evidence and witness statements have led investigators to believe the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The BC Coroners Service attended the scene and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm cause of death.

No further information about the identity of the deceased will be released.

The Prince George RCMP would like to thank Prince George Regional Highway Rescue and local volunteer firefighters for their assistance at the scene.
