This weekend, Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15, Barkerville will transform into a winter wonderland to host its annual Olde-Fashioned Christmas celebration.
Gates will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, offering visitors a full slate of festive activities and historical programs.
Barkerville is about 2 1/2 hours southeast of Prince George.
Admission
Regular admission provides access to all public programming, demonstrations, and the site itself. The admission fees are as follows:
- General (13-64): $12 + GST
- Seniors (65+): $10 + GST
- Youth (4-12): Free with a non-perishable food donation to the Barkerville Christmas Hamper
- Children (0-3): Free

Sleigh Rides
Sleigh rides, available at Barnard’s Express, are sold separately and include GST. Prices are:
- General (13-64): $12
- Seniors (65+): $10
- Youth (4-12): $8

- Morning drum circle: Mitlite Iskum (No. 188) – 9:45 a.m. to 9:55 a.m.
- Guided town tour with Miss Wilson: Starting at Mitlite Iskum (No. 188) – 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- School lessons at the Doody House (Williams Creek Schoolhouse) (No. 29): 11:30 a.m. to noon, 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Correlieu concert band performance: Methodist Church (No. 31) – Saturday only, 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
- Christmas caroling: Dr. Watt’s Office (No. 59) – Saturday only, 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
- Reading with Chartres Brew; The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle – A Sherlock Holmes Christmas tale, 1892, Methodist Church (No. 31) – Sunday only, 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Church service: St. Saviour’s Anglican Church (No. 30) – 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
