Top off the week with a coffee and some live music Friday Nights at Cafe Voltaire. Every week there is a different local musician providing free live entertainment. Peter Katz singer songwriter and recipient of the CBC Galaxie Rising Star award will be performing. Connect yourself with the arts community at Cafe Voltaire, Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue, at this free event.

The unveiling of a new exhibit at Exploration Place will take place Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The new exhibit celebrates Prince George's participation throughout the 2010 Olympic Games.

Theatre North West's 2010 International Wine Festival will be held Saturday at Exploration Place at 7:30 p.m.

Author Keith Billington will visit Cafe Voltaire to sign his latest book Cold Land, Warm Hearts Saturday at 7:30 p.m. For more information call Books & Co. at 250-563-6637.

Sound of the North, a four-piece local band, will hold a CD launch Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Art Space, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue. Tickets are $10 and are available at Books & Co., or at the door. Children under 12 are free.

Fire & Snow is a winter concert presented by Celtic band Out of Alba and the Prince George Cantata Singers Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Prince George Playhouse. The concert will showcase a strong collaboration between the Cantata Singers and Out of Alba, as together they perform a wide variety of celtic, folk, and seasonal favourites. Tickets are $18 adults, $15 seniors/students, available at Studio 2880 and at the door. There is assigned seating.

The Daily Grind will offer their Open Mic night every Saturday night at 7 p.m. due to popular demand. Live music and great coffee makes for the perfect Saturday night at 1505 Third Avenue. For more information call Blossom at 250-596-3080 or e-mail dailygrind@shaw.ca.

The Prince George Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Third Avenue and George Street right in front of the courthouse, and the indoor market is across the street. There are local vendors selling meat, produce, arts and crafts, jewelry and much more.
