Food for Thought film series installment takes place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at UNBC Room 7-212. The film is called Everything You Have to Know about GMOs. What are the ecological and health costs of our increasing dependence upon genetically modified organisms? How can we protect ourselves? For more information e-mail greens@unbc.ca.

Harry Potter Movie Marathon will take place Friday during a non-instructional school day at the Bob Harkins branch of the library. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is at 10:30 a.m., games will be played from 1 to 2 p.m. and then Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is at 2 p.m. This is a free event and families and children are welcome. Sacred Heart Country Bazaar will be held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be local crafts and wares at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in the elementary school gym at 785 Patricia Blvd. Admission is free and there are draws for prizes from the vendors.

The Prince George Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Third Avenue and George Street right in front of the Courthouse, and the indoor market is across the street. There are local vendors selling meat, produce, arts and crafts, jewelry and much more.

Ross Neilsen & The Band will perform at the Legion hall, 1335 Seventh Ave., Saturday. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and show starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are at Books & Co. and at the Legion. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-members.

Crafters' Swap will take place Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bob Harkins branch of the library. Bring fabric, yarn, beads, patterns and other crafting items to swap with other crafters. For more information call 250-563-9251.

An installment of Cinema CNC Fall Film Series will be held Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. The movie called I Am Love will be shown in Room 1-306. All tickets and passes are available at Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue and the CNC bookstore. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and passes are $42 for the series.

Welcome to the Jungle: Meet a Zoologist @ Your Library will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to hear Natasha Lloyd speak about her world travels, focusing on endangered species. For more information call 250-563-9251.

The family Halloween Spooktacular takes place Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Huble Homestead. Children can carve pumpkins and make crafts or watch a magic show, walk through a maze, talk with a fortune teller, go trick or treating or dare to venture into the House of Horrors for $3. The house is not suitable for children under 12. The event is outdoors so dress warmly and bring flashlights and wear proper footwear, too. Island Mountain Arts presents ArtsFest 2010 with an opening reception Sunday at 7 p.m. The exhibit will go until Nov. 19 at the IMA Gallery, 2323 Pooley Street, Wells. The exhibit features a selection of juried work from the 2010 CIRAC regional art exhibition.

Denise Chong, author of three books, will be at the Bob Harkins branch of the library on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Chong will be talking about her book Egg On Mao and the writing process during this free event.
