All’s not well in Low Humidity Chasm.

College Heights Secondary School’s drama program is producing How the West was Dun, a family-friendly melodrama spoofing Hollywood Westerns, this week.

The play runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the school. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and curtains at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door for adults, $5 for students and seniors and kids under five are $2.

Slick and wealthy Richard Coldheart must marry Polly Wanda Cracker, played by Grade 10 student Audrey Murphy. But it’s Polly’s homely sister, Prunella, who is in love with Coldheart.

Things get worse when a gang of outlaws including Snydley Dastardley, Kid Kid, Blacker Bart, the Schizophrenic Kid and Calamity Jan take over the town.

Can Sheriff Wayne John, played by Grade 11 student Sylvester Mader-Dansack, and his bumbling sidekick Deputy Doowrong (played by Grade 12 student Billie Gladeu) save the town and the wedding?

How the West was Dun was written by Christopher Gieschen, and directed by teacher Audrey Rowell.
