Avril Lavigne is returning to the CN Centre during her Black Star Tour October 5 for her third appearance in Prince George.

The Black Star Tour is to promote Lavigne's new album Goodbye Lullaby.

Written over the last few years, the new album is filled with relatable, heartfelt songs filled with a variety of emotions that reflect a bittersweet mood not generally associated with Lavigne's best-known tunes.

Except for the anthem-style first singles, What The Hell and Smile, which help transition from her previous style, the remainder of Goodbye Lullaby finds Lavigne exploring what it means to push through the tough times and come out stronger - like in Everybody Hurts, Push, Remember When and Wish You Were Here.

Lavigne started her music career at 17 as a pop punk tomboyish performer writing her hit songs Sk8er Boi, Complicated, My Happy Ending, When You're Gone and more.

Now 26, she's still young but is a veteran performer.

Lavigne shot to global pop stardom with six-time platinum album Let Go in 2002, followed by three-time platinum Under My Skin in '04 followed by 2007's platinum The Best Damn Thing.

Lavigne has earned eight Grammy nominations, won seven Canadian Junos and sold more than 30 million albums and nearly 20 million tracks worldwide over the past eight years.

Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets $37.50 for stand seats and $49.50 for the floor plus service charges.
