Stage Combat Coreographer Thomas Usher will host stage fighting workshops this fall.

Local actors looking to hone their stage-fighting skills will soon have the opportunity to learn to fight safely.

Theatre Northwest will host certified Stage Combat Choreographer Thomas Usher for two Stage Combat workshops this September.

‘To fight safely on stage is an important part of many productions,’ says Thomas Usher, stage combat choreographer. Usher has been directing plays and choreographing fights for 30 years.

‘We are so excited to be able to offer this course,’ says Marnie Hamagami, Artistic Producer at Theatre NorthWest.

She said Theatre NorthWest is committed to developing and maintaining the artistic skills of local actors and offering workshops like this is part of the goals of the organization to employ more local artists.

These are two district workshops, and artists are free to sign up to either or both. The first is for people learning to stage a fight, scuffle, or fall safely on stage. The second is the use of weaponry on stage.

Admission ranges from a $25 accessible rate to $50 for general admission for each workshop.
