Christmas is a perfect time for heavy metal horror. The warm feelings of family and community, sharing and caring, get a boost when juxtaposed with thundering drums and grimacing guitars.

Local rock band The Burden headlines an antithetical seasonal concert Friday. They top the marquee for a show they have entitled A Nightmare Before Christmas, "a horrific night of holiday terror."

The Burden will gift-wrap the songs from their recent album called Modern Disease. They will be joined on the undercard by Vancouver group Air Combat noted for their emo-alternative pop-punk styles. Also involved is Prince George skate-punk hardcore band Far From First.

The three-band show takes place at Art Space starting at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.) and just to stir the yuletide spirit, prizes will be offered to the best wearers of costumes or ugly Christmas sweaters.

Tickets are $10 in advance (get them at Electron Entertainment on Massey Drive) or $15 at the door while supplies last.
