Summer is in full swing at Huble Homestead, just north of Prince George, and the historic site is looking forward to three upcoming events this July: Hidden History, Taste of the Past, and Homestead Days events.

Huble Homestead’s Hidden History on Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9 will celebrate Historic Places Days a two-day event which runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and takes visitors beyond the exhibits and behind the scenes to learn more about the displays, hear about the restoration of the house and park, and see artifacts not normally on show.

Visitors can also find out more about the Huble Diaries project, have fun with a craft and treasure hunt, and enjoy lunch while you’re discovering the historic places in your backyard.

Taste of the Past on Saturday, July 16 is a celebration of heritage food skills, and promises to be delicious.

Visitors can watch and help staff as they make classic food items like cheese, butter, ice cream, and perogies, then enjoy samples!

If anyone misses out on the tasters, they can try again on Homestead Days on July 31 or August 1, when food and other heritage demonstrations round out a weekend filled with old-fashioned games and contests! The full schedule of events is available on Huble Homestead’s website with activities planned through the end of summer.

The historic site is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until September 5.

Visitors can participate in one of the daily self-led activities, request a guided tour, or explore solo. Visit the General Store for locally made items, your favourite old-fashioned candies, pie, ice cream treats, and lunch from the barbeque, or enjoy a picnic and lawn games in the park’s open green spaces.

Huble Homestead Historic Site is located on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, 40km north of Prince George, just off Highway 97 on Mitchell Road, and will be open daily from May 21 to September 5. Admission is by donation, and dogs are welcome.
