Actress Emily Swallow will be visiting Prince George as one of the featured guests at this weekend's Northern FanCon at Exhnibition Park.

If you’ve ever watched the Star Wars Mandalorian series on Disney+, chances are you’ve seen actress Emily Swallow.

Swallow plays the role as The Armorer and she never reveals her face, which is hidden behind a gold helmet.

Behind that mask is a 43-year-old Washington, D.C. native with a long resume as an actress in TV, films and the Broadway stage who will be in Prince George this weekend for Northern FanCon.

“She’s a huge draw, that’s Star Wars, and you can literally buy a toy (figure) of her from Walmart and come and get it signed at FanCon,” said Northern FanCon executive director Norm Coyne.

The three-day gathering of influential actors, filmmakers, authors, makeup artists, animators, costume designers, prop makers and entertainers starts Friday at Exhibition Park. More information about what there is to see and do at FanCon this weekend is on the website.

Among the headliners at FanCon this weekend is actor Lou Diamond Phillips, best known for his starring roles in La Bamba and Young Guns 1 and 2. Phillips was also a Golden Globe nominee for starring in Stand and Deliver.

FanCon attendees will also have a chance to meet actor Michael Cudlitz, who played Abraham on Walking Dead and was Lex Luthor in the series Superman and Lois.

Artist John Gallagher, known for his horror/superhero, sci-fi fantasy masterpieces that have been made into promotional movie posters, will be part of FanCon’s workshop panel discussion.  Coyne said the artists he invited to this year’s convention all are currently involved in TV or film productions.

A Friday night film festival features the movie Splinter, written by FanCon legacy guest Mark Bernardin as well as film projects produced by local students enrolled in the Story Institute film school. Attendees will get a sneak peak at the Barkerstreet Cinema’s science fiction film Conquest, which was filmed on location at last year’s FanCon and features guests from Creative Corner

Cosplayers who dress up for FanCon are eligible for contest prizes.

FanCon admission for single-day tickets ranges in price from $36-$43.35 and a three-day pass is $80. Kids 12-and-under are admitted free.
