Shape of a Girl

The Shape of a Girl, a play presented by D.P. Todd secondary school, will be showcased Tuesday at 7 and 9 p.m. at Vanier Hall. The play written by Joan McLeod of Vancouver parallels the extreme bullying circumstances surrounding the Rena Virk murder.

The play written by Joan McLeod of Vancouver parallels the extreme bullying circumstances surrounding the Rena Virk murder.

Under the direction of Linda Riches, artistic director at D.P. Todd, the cast including Kathrynn Sparks, Haylee Tucker, Dylan Riches, Jessie Laing and Courtney Gibbons tackle the heavy subject matter with the help of technical crew Justin Stubley and Daniel Finke.

The play focuses on the victim and the bullies, as well as the role of the bystander.

The main goal of the play is to inspire people to take action against bullying.

This play was presented in Quesnel during the Association of British Columbia Drama Educators regional festival and took second place, with best director title going to Linda Riches and best supporting actress going to Haylee Tucker.

The ensemble for Shape of a Girl has been invited to the provincial festival in Vancouver and they will be attending workshops and watching other performances, as well.

The Shape of a Girl will be presented at Vanier Hall Tuesday at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
