Rachelle van Zanten releases new video

Northern BC singer songwriter releases her latest video showcasing the best of BC

Northern BC singer songwriter Rachelle van Zanten has released her latest music video called Kelli Likes To Ride.

The video features legendary Canadian mountain biker Kelli Sherbinin in action on the bike trails in van Zanten’s own backyard around Burns Lake and Smithers, along with trails in Sherbinin’s North Vancouver mountains.

Van Zanten figures prominently in the video, robustly playing her slide guitar along the railway tracks.

An avid mountain biker herself, van Zanten wanted to share her passion for the sport, which has surged in popularity since the pandemic began.

“I love how it gives people that super high joy that comes with connecting to nature and using our bodies to self-propel through the woods, the mountains, creeks,” van Zanten said in a press release. “It’s empowering. It feeds you. We are so very, very fortunate in BC to have these places to nourish us.”

The song and film are partly funded by a provincial Creative BC arts grant, especially helpful during the lockdown that stopped all live performances.

Van Zanten was in studio recording the song with producer/engineer Joby Baker, just as the worldwide pandemic broke out.
