George Harris has been appointed executive director of the Two Rivers Gallery, the gallery announced on Wednesday.
Harris has served as the curator of the Prince George gallery since 2001, and previously served as the director/curator of the Yukon Arts Centre Gallery and Prince George Art Gallery.
“I am thrilled to be able to continue working with Two Rivers Gallery, albeit in a new role, on the traditional unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh,” Harris said in a statement issued Wednesday. “It has been such a pleasure to work with so many artists and members of our community over the years. Through art we can see the world differently, understand unfamiliar perspectives and the challenges of our time more deeply and effect positive change. As I shift to this new role, I reflect on the extraordinary team of people with whom I am fortunate to work. I look forward to continuing this journey with the staff and the Board of Directors of Two Rivers Gallery.”
Harris is the visual arts editor of Thimbleberry, a magazine for the arts in northern B.C., is a past board member of the International Council Of Museums Canada and won the 2016 BC Museums Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
