It's the true story of Jennie Hawkes, an Albertan, who in 1915 committed a crime of passion and was sentenced to hang. But her unfair treatment in the court trial caused a furor throughout the country and many to rally to her cause. It's a relatively new play that was first produced in Toronto six years ago that clearly shows the early struggle for women's right.
