The Dove is Fading is one of many photographs on display in Drew Watmough's exhibit called Finding Home at Studio 2880 from Oct. 18 to Nov. 21.

Stripped of his Indigenous culture at birth, Drew Watmough, a professional photographer, will share his thought-provoking perspectives through images taken during his personal journey to reclaim culture and redefine the meaning of home.

Finding Home, Piecing the Puzzle of Culture Back Together, is in the featured gallery at Studio 2880 with its opening reception on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 2880-15th Ave.

Drew Watmough, a hobbyist of photography turned professional photographer, educator of photography, and facilitator of mental health supports over the past two decades explores the meaning of Home through the beauty of the earth, water, and sky and how they are intertwined in the strength and quality of life of all.

The theme of the exhibit has been shaped into new meaning for Watmough. Family has been found, the tip of the iceberg of culture has been explored, and home - land, water, sky, culture - has been discovered through stories, teachings and sharing, art and language, mental and physical wellness and continues to be an experience.

By exploring various landscape images, viewers of Watmough’s art will see how the puzzle of culture starts and continues to come together.

This art exhibition will be on display until Nov. 21 in the Featured Gallery area of Studio 2880. Light snacks and drinks will be provided at the opening reception.
