Morning Walks, New Perspectives is the upcoming exhibition in the Feature Artist Gallery at Studio 2880, showcasing Michael Kast’s black and white photos of a simple morning journey and life reflections.
“As a photographer, my aim is to capture moments of time,” Kast said. “With a focus on black and white photography, I aim to convey a sense of timelessness, silence and depth, that transcend the ordinary and allows viewers to see things with a fresh perspective. The images I have captured on my morning walks have been taken with an eye for different perspectives. I have explored the ways in which light and shadow interact with elements such as frost, mist and water, to bring out a sense of texture, depth and movement in each image.”
Kast said his goal is to use photography as a way to illustrate the wonders of the world while promoting appreciation and respect for it while also encouraging the viewer to look at their environment with a new perspective.
“Through my black and white photos, I hope to inspire others to take a moment out of their busy lives to appreciate the simple beauty of the world around them,” Kast added.
The opening show is Thursday, April 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Feature Gallery at Studio 2880, 2880 15th Avenue, with an artist talk at 5:30 p.m.
The exhibit will be on display until May 16 during regular gift shop/gallery hours.
