Local dancer takes third at major powwow

The Kamloopa Powwow is one of the largest powwows in Western Canada and this year’s event featured more than 500 dancers from across Canada and the United States

Prince George resident Bella Rain Abraham took part in the 42nd annual Kamloopa Powwow in Kamloops during the August long weekend, where she finished third in the junior girls jingle dress category.

Abraham is a member of the Takla Lake First Nation, located northwest of Prince George.

The Kamloopa Powwow is one of the largest powwows in Western Canada and this year’s event featured more than 500 dancers from across Canada and the United States at the Tk’emlúps Powwow grounds.
